Venice Rookery & Myakka (18-03-2011)

Arrived at the "Venice Rookery" thismorning and despite 1 shot, 

I must say I was deeply dissapointed in this place,

all nests packed together, branches obstructing clear views...

Great White Egret (breeding plumage).

Didn't stay much longer than an hour, moved on to "Myakka River State Park".

Beautiful hammock, prairies & wetlands resulting in 2 new species!

After checking out their habits & behaviour, I risked getting closer...

Following pictures are taken with a 70-200mm lens, some @ 70mm!

And finally, while getting ready to leave some shy 

"Roseatte Spoonbills" arrived...resulting in this shot.
